Amidst the confusion caused by the resurging pandemic, mask requests, and a campus filled with smoke, Professor Donald Parry (Asian & Near Eastern Languages) delivered two inspiring messages on the opening day of Education Week. Both classes filled the Wilkinson Center ballroom to capacity and had audiences alternating between laughter and tears—an experience that, although muffled by masks, was both refreshing and faith promoting.

New Humanities Communications Team Structure and Manager

We are pleased to announce the redesign of the communications arm of the College of Humanities. Given that both internal and public-facing communications are increasingly centered within digital media, what was formerly known as the Communications Team is now Digital Media and Communications (DMaC). This unit manages social, web, and print messaging for the College, including publishing a biannual alumni magazine, and is also tasked with helping departments with their digital messaging. We are pleased to announce the appointment of Josh Perkey as the manager of DMaC.

Kerry Soper Appointed as Department Chair for Comparative Arts & Letters

Kerry Soper has been appointed as department chair for the Department of Comparative Arts & Letters. Soper succeeds Carl Sederholm, who has served in this capacity since 2015. “Carl Sederholm has been an exemplary and effective leader, helping the department expand with the addition of Art History and demonstrating respect and love for his faculty," commented Dean Miller. "He has willingly agreed to continue his service as chair through the balance of 2021 while Professor Soper co-directs the London Study Abroad Program during fall semester.”
